Seen & Heard: Franklin Café, Buon Giorno!

••• Franklin Café Buon Gusto opens on Monday (in the space that was Franklin Café Tavala Calda, and before that, Franklin Station Café). The restaurant is a sister to ones in Brooklyn Heights and on the Upper East Side. The menu is here: It’s rather large and there are no surprises; by the sound of it, it’s straightforward Italian delivery-style food.

••• The space at 79 Worth that appeared to have been an office for Eastern Athletic is becoming Pas de Deux Salon. I’m sensing an art connection; more soon.

••• Il Matto is open for lunch.

••• Help a brother out and answer this question for me. You might win stuff.

••• I was walking by Theater Bar yesterday evening, and the doors were open, so I poked my head inside. The woman I spoke with said it’d be opening in a month or so, and was doing private parties in the interim. She salso said that if I were walking by sometime and I saw a party going on, she’s usually working the door and I could probably come in. (I looked guest-worthy last night, all dressed up for the Maserati of Manhattan opening.) “The owner likes the idea of locals stopping by,” she said. It’s a date, sort of! Anyway, the room looks nice.

••• Today on BuyWithMe: $15 for $30 worth of food and drink at Salaam Bombay. FYI, many of these types of deals—including this one—let you buy more than one (but you have to use them on separate occasions).

••• Food truck Mexicue will be on Church (Lispenard/Walker) today from 11 a.m.

••• I redeemed my Bloomspot deal for an 90-minute massage for $85 (vs. the normal $165) at the Andaz Wall Street, and holy moly! The spa isn’t anything major, but the massage—the therapist was named Michael—did a number on my shoulders. (Typing as often as I do, and as badly as I do, takes a toll.) I asked for it firm, but if a therapist is going to help-hurt me, I need to feel like he knows what he’s doing, and I did. Highly recommended.

••• Today’s deal on ScoutMob: 50% off “Bodies” at the Seaport, if you’re into that kind of thing.

••• The Bacon Brothers will be at City Winery Feb. 16 and 17.

••• Church Street School is having an open house—click the link to see the calendar of events—on Saturday.
