R Is for Retrospective

On Tuesday, R 20th Century kicked off its “10 Years in Tribeca” anniversary exhibit with a big party for design-world stars. They were nice enough to invite me, too, but I was unable to attend—which was just as well, because when I stopped by the exhibit yesterday, I managed to take photos that would never have been possible at the event. Plus, I got a few minutes with owners Zesty Meyers and Evan Snyderman. “These pieces are some of our favorites from the past 10 years,” said Snyderman. “And we also collect ephemera, periodicals, and so on, and it’s great to let people see the back story.” (Our conversation was cut short because famed designer Jacques Grange came in with a client.) Everything R does is impeccable, and the show is no exception; these photos are but a sampling. It’ll be up through June 4. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go play the lottery. 82 Franklin, bet.
