14. I suppose they’re eyesores to many folks, and as I always say regarding street art, I’d feel differently if I owned the buildings in question. But I find these “Basquiat doors” (as I think of them) to be a splendid reminder of the energy of New York City. And don’t assume they’d look better painted: The gray doors are on Broadway, and soon after I took the photo, the graffiti was painted over—and now the doors are a study in banality.
