Loft Peeping: 2011 Loft Tour Preview No. 3

At the press preview for the 12th-annual Inside Tribeca Loft Tour—a benefit for Friends of Duane Park, which is responsible for taking care of the park—I got to ogle three apartments (of the ten or eleven on the tour).

The first two Loft Tour press preview posts:
Preview No. 1 (Desbrosses)
Preview No. 2 (Warren)

The owners of this 2,500-square-foot three-bedroom on Washington Street have lived there since the building was developed, about seven years ago, although you’d hardly know it. The place was in impeccable shape! A few of the highlights:

• They hired a feng shui expert, whose advice included making sure something in the decor was moving (so they bought the bubbly chandelier over the dining table, which oh-so-gently sways).
• They also engaged a decorator to help with the many built-ins.
• The wife (that sounds weird but I can’t figure out how else to explain who she is; a straight married couple owns the apartment, and I’m talking about the woman) designed the purple chairs in the living room.
• Their dog seemed nice but he was led out on a walk when we arrived.

The self-guided tour is Oct. 16 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. But tickets now at duanepark.org for $50, or you can pay $55 at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the event at the park. Only 400 tickets are available, and the tour usually sells out.

  1. I always take issue with “wife” too, as it sounds like Ralph Kramdon is speaking; but, it’s clearly convention and used in all the best shelter mags.
For a more genteel approach you could try “lady of the house” and be hopelessly old fashioned.

Anyway, this loft is gorgeous! Thanks for the close-up of the stunning celestial/jelly-fish/lily pad mural. The light, the colours, the paintings….
