Schoolhouse Expansion

Vintage-inspired lighting company Schoolhouse Electric is making a play to take over your entire home: It’s rebranding as Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co.—I think we’re just calling it Schoolhouse—and it’s selling far more than light fixtures. As you can see from the photos, there’s furniture, linens, pillows, ceramics, hardware (such as doorknobs), and more. And as you might expect, the aesthetic is very classic American and tremendously appealing; I can now begin decorating the country house (in my mind). Merchandise is made in America or Europe.

The Schoolhouse outpost at 27 Vestry reopened today after a renovation. Unlike the flagship in Portland, Ore., which takes up a full block and has a café and florist, this is a showroom, not a store—meaning you have to order products, and you can’t take anything with you. Well, you can take a catalog….

P.S. The IBM clock was brought back into production exclusively by Schoolhouse.

P.P.S. There’s a lot more on the website than is in the showroom, so click that link at the top and check it out.
