Seen & Heard: Dr. Michel Cohen’s Restaurant

••• Coming up at the Flea: Heresy, the world premiere of a play by A.R. Gurney, with Reg E. Cathey, Kathy Najimy and Annette O’Toole (Sept. 29 to Nov. 4).

••• Classified: “I found two expensive rings at Duane and W. Broadway at approximately 12:30 p.m. To claim them, email tribecacitizen@gmail.com with identifying details.” (And if so, you owe the Friends of Hudson River Park a $10 donation.)

••• The restaurant on W. Broadway (between Warren and Murray) being opened by Michel Cohen of Tribeca Pediatrics won’t be called Jean: “I’ve decided to name the restaurant Saleya,” he emailed. “Le cours Saleya is a market in Nice that I frequented often growing up. As a first step, I will open the cafe on the ground floor followed by a more formal restaurant on the second floor. The cafe will serve Mediterranean fare from the region (France, Spain, Italy, etc) comprised of salads, small plates, and a variety of home made flatbreads. The vast majority of our wines will be from Mediterranean coastal estates.” The café will hopefully open in early October, with the upstairs restaurant to follow.

••• I don’t think I’ll be doing the real estate sales reports anymore. It’s just too wonky, and other sites are pretty good about skimming off the interesting parts (such as celebrity sales) as they happen.

  1. You have no idea how your real estate reports have been utilized by developers. They are quietly, though wildly, important.

  2. @Bruce: Developers don’t pay for premium access to StreetEasy? I suppose it’s possible. Even so, then perhaps they should consider supporting this site financially, perhaps with advertising.

  3. I really enjoy the Real Estate reports … it is interesting to see how few places transact under $2M in the neighborhood. I will miss it.

  4. Please keep doing your real estate sales reports. They are informative, timely and helpful.
    And I’m in the business!

  5. Love the real estate reports. Unless it’s taking up too much of your time?

  6. Another vote to keep the real estate sales reports. We’re all “nosy neighbors” and like to see who’s moving in/out of the neighborhood and what they are paying…

  7. Erik — Absolutely right!
