Seen & Heard: The Greek Opens Tonight

Water and Wall courtesy RK ODonnell••• @RKODonnell tweeted the above photo, along with this question: “Any idea what’s going on here? Several corners painted bright colors on Water St (this one at Wall).” I think it’s part of the long-gestating plans to add zest (including pedestrian plazas) all along Water Street. I asked Downtown Alliance—who, in fact, tweeted the doily-bench photo at right (“A wonderful new place to sit is being installed at Water/Whitehall Plaza”)—so we’ll see what they say.

••• The Greek officially opens for business tonight at 458 Greenwich (the old Turks & Frogs space).

lock2••• You know that lock I was so proud of? It won’t fit in Asphalt Green’s lockers! (And they only sell keyed padlocks, which isn’t so great for us swimmers….)

••• I added My Little Sunshine to the Summer Sales Report: a sign in the window says all clothes and select shoes are 20% off.

••• One of the features (that I know how to use) on WordPress is a list of recently searched terms. And for a while now, the word “register” has been near the top. All I can think is that it’s people who want to subscribe to the email newsletter—because I’m a closet optimist—and so I figured I’d write an item that includes the word “register” so they actually land somewhere useful. You can subscribe by clicking this link.

••• The Lilac Preservation Project is looking for vendors for its monthly marketplace, Radio Lilac: “We are looking especially for local artisans selling their own wares but we would welcome small businesses and organizations from the neighborhood that would like a table-size pop-up presence. There are lots of folks from the neighborhood strolling by on the pier on sunny afternoons! We are charging a very minimal fee for a table since it is a new effort.”

••• The unfinished upland part of Hudson River Park got grass…. Thanks for the photo, A.!
