Seen & Heard: Broadway’s Next Condo?

••• A sign reading “commercial loft for rent— short term” at 385-387 Broadway (between White and Walker) made me wonder whether the building was up next for Broadway’s Residential Boom. First, look at it: There’s money to be made there. Second, why else do a short-term rental, if not to wait out the other leases in the building? It’d be a shame to lose K&M, though.

••• I got an email from 37 Warren saying it’s 50% sold and its sales office is open. Hmm…. Last October it was said that 8 of the 18 units were sold….

56008976••• A groovy basement space at 49 Murray is for sale. I hope the price includes the herd of daybeds.

••• Summer Sale Report (part 22): A Uno Tribeca is having a jewelry sale. And all pillows and throws are 25% off at Cristina Dos Santos.

••• From T.: “There is a Community Board 1 subcommittee meeting this week to discuss expanding the borders of the Tribeca historic district. It would be nice if we had a good turnout to support this effort as it would help prevent the further loss of unprotected buildings in the area.” The meeting is Thursday, and the push is by Tribeca Trust; details here.

••• Bryan sent over this photo of signage for Jersey Mike’s sub shop being installed at 80 Maiden Lane. Did we know that was coming there? (Luis, that’s a question for you.) Seriously, aren’t there like four other sandwicheries new to or coming to FiDi?

  1. Erik, re the CB1 Tribeca Committee and the historic district boundaries — is that a different meeting from the regular monthly one that’s tomorrow night (not Thursday)?

  2. @N: It’s the Landmarks Committee (so, yes, it’s different than Wednesday’s meeting of the Tribeca Committee).

  3. Yes, we knew it was coming. The lease was signed months ago. Mike’s is a New Jersey chain with a pretty good reputation, so we’ll see. This joins Potbelly as a sandwich shop on the street. Pret a Manger was the only other Sandwich shop on that two block stretch of Maiden Lane but they were the only store not to reopen after Sandy and I think the Subway was seized in a tax lien and has closed permanently. Joining the scene soon is Creperie Amour in a site between Water and Pearl.

  4. Worried about Dave’s Hoagies around the corner on Cedar, that scaffolding is bad news.

  5. Dave’s Hoagies is amazing!
