The Hudson River Park’s New Esplanade

While the Hudson River Park’s new dog run has been getting most of the attention, I’m personally* more excited about the new parts of the esplanade—and the disentangling of the pedestrian path from the bike path.

A casual observer, however, might not realize that you don’t have to risk your life between N. Moore and Hubert: There’s no signage, at least that I saw, directing pedestrians who might have become accustomed to the temporary shared path toward the esplanade, and the southern entrance to the new part is on the western side of construction fencing.

Let’s take a photographic stroll, heading north on the esplanade, toward Pier 26:
