The Colored Lights Atop 1 World Trade Center
The lights on the 1 World Trade Center spire were tested last night, in preparation for their official rollout, which I believe is this week. (My family and my soon-to-be-in-laws—in town for our wedding—could not have gotten a nicer treat for the walk to the not-quite-a-rehearsal dinner.) When I saw it, the lights changed in sections. But do check out @jammy_sod’s Instagram video, of the smoother color-changing that happened later.

Light gradually cycling through pastel hues = Vegas style light show? Never been to Vegas, but…
@David: When I saw it, the lights changed in sections, not gradually, and they weren’t pastel. (I didn’t take the video.) While it’s true that my idea of Vegasy may be circa 1980, that’s what came to mind.
Glad to find gazes southward below 34th Street. I didn’t know this was coming, which is always a pleasant surprise (vs. new construction on Chambers, say). How about “mood” ring-like lighting? Blue after Che de Blasio….
