Any Plans for New Year’s Eve?

“This is my first year in the area,” emailed Stevie. “What’s going on for New Year’s? What’s the best spot?” As a longtime dud at the holiday—I rarely stay up past 10 p.m., so that extra two hours feels like an impossible leap—I’m useless on this question. And while I usually receive emails or see tweets about interesting stuff for the holiday, I haven’t noticed much except for what’s below.

Know of anything good? Been anywhere fun in the past? My general advice is to check out the bars or restaurants you like on a normal night to see what they’ve cooked up, but there’s nothing wrong with trying something new. (Local businesses: Please do add your plans in the comments or email them to me at tribecacitizen@gmail.com and I’ll add them to this post.)

Wallsé, Kurt Gutenbrunner’s classic West Village restaurant, is doing a prix-fixe dinner with a Viennese waltz at midnight. There’s more info in the graphic above,

At The Greek, “chef Cosmo Bisticas has created an eclectic Greek-style that includes classic favorites, as well as some new dishes that will be premiering that night. There are going to be two seatings for New Year’s Eve. One at 7 p.m. and another one at 9:30 p.m.. Either seating will get the same menu and a complimentary glass of champagne and will enjoy the music of The Monogram Trio who will be performing that night some festive music that will breeze us through into 2014.”

Tribeca Grill “has it all for a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration, including a decadent 5-course menu and live entertainment by the Ron Sunshine Band with special guest Junior Mack.” That’s them below.

New Years Eve at MacaoUPDATE: From Edward’s: “Dinner from 5 p.m. No cover charge. No decorations, balloons, or noisemakers. Regular dinner menu. La Frieda hamburger with fries plus any beer—$10!”

From Maslow 6 Wine Bar: “Tasting of 4 Glasses of Grower Champagnes from 5:00 – 9:00 PM with nibbles. Perfect for stopping in on your way to dinner, or have dinner with us! $50 per person RSVP: www.maslow6.com.”
