Seen & Heard: “American Hustle”

••• Live the dream! Community Board 1 sent out the application for prospective CB1 members; the deadline is February 1.

••• Next month, Tribeca Health & Fitness is opening an indoor cycling studio.

••• On January 27, Tribeca Trust is holding a Winter Meet & Mingle at Maslow 6; ticket info is here. Also, the group is republishing the wonderful (and out-of-print) book, The Texture of Tribeca. If you love this neighborhood’s heritage, it’s a must.

••• I played hooky this afternoon and went and saw American Hustle—which I only mention because it shot several scenes in and around Federal Plaza. (Enjoyed it. But the director could’ve taken 10 minutes off it if he cut every time someone said a line twice.) Oh! One of the previews was for The Other Woman, which spent much time shooting around here. It’s like the First Wives Club, but with a wife and the guy’s mistresses. So I guess that’s coming out soon. Update: I posted the trailer below.

••• An especially nice comment from Chris Blumlo and everyone at Marc Forgione: “Tribeca lost some of its soul today. Cosmo was always a place of peace in a city with little of it. The first person we met in the neighborhood was Craig, who offered a helping hand immediately, would not take no for an answer and worked well into the night with us unloading a moving truck. He made us feel like we were opening in Smalltown USA, not Downtown Manhattan, and for the last 6 years has been a constant support through the good times and bad. I have watched as he has continued to do that very same thing for countless residents, businesses and charities Downtown. The world needs more people like Craig and this City needs more businesses like the Cosmopolitan Café.
Thanks for everything Craig!”
