Seen & Heard: Sweet Green’s Opening Date

••• The new Burger King that I rang the alarm about will be at in the old Siring Asian Grill space at 325 Broadway (with an entrance on Worth, too). I can’t see the words “Burger King” without having this song come to mind. You’ve been warned: It’s not the most tasteful work…. It was a response to “Gypsy Woman” by Crystal Waters.

••• Speaking of tastelessness, I have reservations about how I handled that post about Michelle Obama.

••• I hear Sweet Green is shooting for a May 15 opening…. UPDATE: “I just stopped by,” emailed a reader. “It’s opening on the 15th, and Wednesday the 14th is pay-whatever-you-want and it all goes to charity.” That offer is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and proceeds benefit Edible Schoolyard NYC.

••• This weekend’s TOAST Art Walk is having an opening exhibition at One Art Space (23 Warren) this Thursday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. You can also grab a map there showing where the artists’ studios are.

••• Has anyone seen any evidence of work going on at Café Noir at 35 Lispenard, where 35 Thai used to be?

••• K&M Camera is moving to its new location, 368 Broadway, on May 12.

••• I hear that Tutto Il Giorno—the Hamptons spin-off restaurant on Franklin—is very close to opening.

••• Hoping that @OLV can tell us what “Collective” is—the flyers say it’s shooting in the Broadway/Murray vicinity on Friday.

••• Hudson River Park is auctioning off park-related experiences with celebrities big and small: “Bid to play tennis with Denis Leary, nature walk with Martha Stewart, take a sail with Brooke Shields, paddleboard with Darren Criss,”—I’ll let someone else take that—”hit the driving range with David Chang, trapeze with Nate Berkus, and mini golf with Fredrik Eklund.” If I create a Kickstarter drive to bid on the Martha one, will you pony up?

••• Nice to see 5 Beekman—and its peaks—emerge from the shrouding. Or I guess we should start calling it the Beekman Hotel? Or just the Beek?

  1. Any word on when Baked TriBeCa will be opening? Haven’t heard about it in a while.
