Loft Tour Preview #1: Franklin Street Megaloft

Franklin Loft living areaThe 15th-annual Inside Tribeca Loft Tour, benefiting Friends of Duane Park and Friends of Bogardus Garden, is Sunday, Oct. 19 (1–5 p.m.). Tickets are $60 at duanepark.org or $65 the day of, but don’t wait, because only 400 tickets are available, and the event tends to sell out. Friends of Duane Park lets the media preview some of the nine homes on the tour. (P.S. The event needs volunteers: “In exchange for volunteering for a 2-hour shift—either 1-3 p.m. or 3-5 p.m.—you will receive a free ticket to take the tour yourself.” More info.)

The first property from the media preview is a showstopper of a 6,500-square-foot corner loft on Franklin Street, designed by Mitchell Owen of Consolidated Design Studios. Two apartments were combined; the six-bedroom result is meant to be both family-friendly and entertaining-friendly.

  1. Wow. So much money spent on the interior – doesn’t look like a loft space at all. Light fixtures not nice. I don’t understand the aesthetic – has an almost “granny” feel to it. Very odd.
