In the News: Anthropologie Close to Signing on Broadway

••• “Anthropologie has a lease out for 28,141 square feet at 195 Broadway, which would glom up the entire Dey Street corner retail space at the downtown office tower. […] If and when this deal is completed, it would leave just over 11,000 square feet on two levels at 195 Broadway for another retailer along Fulton Street.” —New York Post

••• News from the World Trade Center mall: “The Limited has walked away but now Forever 21 may slip into its spot. H&M may also grab a Church Street corridor location opposite the current Century 21 shopping mecca and another Broadway place, if they can find a box that fits their sales scheme. The retailers would go into the bases of the currently rising 3 World Trade Center and 4 World Trade Center.” —New York Post

••• The operators vying to run North Cove Marina include Brookfield Office Properties and Island Global Yachting. “Gov. Andrew Cuomo is a good friend of Andrew Farkas, heir to the Alexanders Department Store fortune and owner of Island Global Yachting. […] Farkas has contributed substantially to Cuomo’s political campaigns, and according to a New York Times article […] Cuomo was employed by Farkas for three years between political races, a job that ‘paid [Cuomo] more than $2.5 million.'” Good thing Cuomo is known for his ethics…. —Downtown Post NYC

••• “Two teens grabbed a woman’s handbag and escaped on Citi Bikes last weekend [….] The victim, a 34-year-old Jersey City woman, told police she was sitting on a bench at Pier 15 in the Financial District on Oct. 19 at about 2 a.m. when the teens swiped her bag from the seat next to her.” I am not blaming the victim! But I am marveling that anyone would feel especially safe sitting on a bench on Pier 15 at 2 a.m. —DNAinfo

••• City Harvest canned food drive (included here because I was just working on cleaning out the pantry, and the launch event was in Tribeca): “New Yorkers can drop off their donations at more than 300 FDNY locations, along with any NYPD stationhouse.” —New York Daily News
