Another Kids’ Clothing Boutique Is Opening Here
When pet-supply store Canis Minor left 106 Reade last May, the broker told the Commercial Observer that the space was “ideal for a children’s clothing store or learning center because it is located on […] a ‘kid-centric’ block.” It worked: “Tribeca, a neighborhood particularly popular with affluent young families, has lured another high-end childrenswear outfit,” says Crain’s. “France-based Jacadi has inked a 10-year deal for 1,500 square feet at 106 Reade St., between W. Broadway and Church Street. The asking rent for the storefront was $130 a square foot.”
According to its website, Jacadi was founded in 1976, opened its first U.S. shop in L.A. in 1985, also sells fragrance and home decor, and has 270 stores in 35 countries. (This will be the fifth one in New York City; the nearest one now is in the Flatiron District.) Its clothes are for girls and boys, ages 0 to 14. More when it opens, which Crain’s says will be in three months.

Personally, dogs > kids for me any day.
Soon Tribeca will resemble the Upper East Side…
Soon? We’re so far past that. This place is more like Greenwich or maybe Marin. Or whatever acronym you apply to the level above NIMBY on the uptightness scale.
My poor dog still goes up to the door and sniffs hoping his friends will let him in!!! I miss Canis. They were nice people to people and even nicer people to dogs! As it should be!
