On the elevator ride to the Observatory – very impressive both conceptually and executionally.
The south side of No.Moore St. between Hudson and Varick Sts. is hands down the most disgusting stretch of sidewalk in TriBeCa with trashbags, garbage, and debris everywhere – the perfect rat magnet. What can be done about it? Something needs to be. At least the 403 Greenwich rats are there because of construction. What’s the excuse for No.Moore St? None/no excuse. Slobs.
The 28 N Moore St construction (which was supposed to be completed in August 2014) is the culprit. There are rats the size of puppies living in there.
How about the constant ‘tornado of trash’ in front of the old Josephine space?

It was disgusting before that August 2014 construction which has only exacerbated the filth but I thank you for pointing out the construction as one reason for that stretch of sidewalk being disgusting.

Blame that trashnado (my word :) on thoughtless inconsiderate people (mostly neighborhood workers) who are too lazy to throw their lunch/snack garbage into a garbage bin.
Construction began in 2012. Sign says condos will be ready in Aug 2014 but no sign of work being done anymore. . If you walk by at night the rats crawl out from the holes in that loading dock and go back and forth to the garbage on the street.
