Loft Peeping: Family-Friendly Three-Bedroom

I think New York Spaces featured this “child-proof-by-day, elegant-for-evening” Tribeca loft a few months ago, but it only recently showed up all over the Internet. The 2,200-square-foot apartment is home to an unnamed family with three young kids; they had lived there for a few years before a big renovation. “On the agenda, says architect Ben Herzog, were reconfiguring the kitchen, reshaping closets, reducing a full bath to a powder room to create a better laundry, and redirecting the HVAC into the ceiling. Once interior designer Kevin Dumais came on board, the two designers worked closely in tandem to finesse spatial function and finishes (such as wide-plank oak floors and built-in cabinetry).”

Of note:
••• There’s a terrace we don’t get to see.
••• The TV in the kitchen/dining nook can be hidden behind a panel.
••• Murphy bed!
••• The heirlooms went into storage, because kids.
••• The pendant light in the master bedroom is by Tribeca’s own trans-LUXE.

The text is by Judith Nasatir; Joshua McHugh took the photographs. And the New York Spaces slideshow has sourcing info in the captions.
