In the News: A Lot of Restaurant News

••• This week’s edition of Florence Fabricant’s “Off the Menu” column in the New York Times is a bonanza of Lower Manhattan restaurant info….

—FiDi’s dining scene continues to heat up: “Wylie Dufresne, the innovative chef who was forced to close WD-50 late last year because the building was to be demolished, will open a restaurant in early 2016 in a hotel in the financial district. Mr. Dufresne, who also owns the bistro Alder in the East Village, has not decided on a name or style for the new place: A K A Wall Street hotel, 84 William.”
—Chef “Floyd Cardoz has announced that at the end of July he will leave White Street […] He is working on opening his own restaurant, which will serve his take on modern Indian food. Jason Lawless, who has been at White Street with Mr. Cardoz, will become executive chef.”
Houseman, Ned Baldwin’s new restaurant at 508 Greenwich (just below Spring), could open as early as Sunday.
—The blurb on the Parm outpost at Brookfield Place doesn’t specify when it’ll open. Instead: “Much of the menu […] has been expanded. Its takes on shrimp scampi, artichokes casino and Delmonico steak are being added. Warm fresh mozzarella and garlic bread will be served when customers are seated, and each month a new ice cream cake flavor will be featured in addition to the spumoni-style classic. The L-shaped red-and white room has a well-defined market and cafe area at the entrance, a bigger bar than on the Upper West Side and a dining room with lots of booths.”

  1. I ate at the Parm in Soho on Sunday. The waitress said they expect the Brookfield location to open by the end of the month.
