Seen & Heard: More Hudson Street Closures?

••• For posterity’s sake: 111 Murray when it was a vacant lot. Renderings of the tower to come are here.

111 Murray••• In a comment wondering why Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (“Half Shell”) was allowed to close a bunch of streets, including Hudson, for several hours on Saturday, from Nicole Vianna: had this intel: “During the traffic lockdown I had a nice chat with two patrol officers from the 1st precinct. They warned me that they’d heard that Hudson Street was going to be shut down for parts of both Sat and Sun during the weekends of July 11th and 18th.” I’ll try asking Made in NY commissioner Cynthia Lopez, but this increasingly seems like an issue that Community Board 1 should take up.

••• An intriguing comment from mg about the restaurant coming to the Ivy’s space (my snooping led to a Sandpiper Group at 65 W. Broadway): “LinkedIn shows a Lawrence Green working as Director of Operations for a Sandpiper Group, with a 15 year history working as beverage director for McNally restaurants (and a brief subsequent stint at Wichcraft). Who knows if it’s the same Sandpiper and not much there anyway but, it’s a thing.”

••• A tipster texted over the weekend that a Papaya Dog opened on Fulton between Cliff and Pearl, replacing the Strawberry Fields frozen yogurt shop.

••• From Notify NYC: “On Monday, June 29 and Tuesday June 30, a C130 aircraft will be conducting a flyover on the Hudson River at approximately 12 p.m. The aircraft will travel at approximately 1,500 feet.”
