Valley National Bank Is Moving Out

Valley National Bank Tribeca 90 FranklinAt last night’s lively Tribeca Meet & Greet, hosted by Chambers Pottery and organized by the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, I learned that Valley National Bank‘s branch in Franklin Tower (90 Franklin, at Church) will close as of Nov. 30. While those of us who bank elsewhere won’t mind this news, the branch’s customers have reason to be upset: Valley is consolidating it with the Soho branch at 450 Broadway.

The 90 Franklin storefront is a rather grand space, so it’ll be interesting to see what moves in. Maybe the new James Perse store a block away will feel less like an outlier.

  1. Duxianna is gone as well. As they moved out there was a giant sign on display that said “a duxianna bed is forever”

  2. The real news though is the sudden closing of Tribeca Duane Dry Cleaners – the old Chinese guys were the greatest tailors in the neighborhood. Another great place gone, no doubt something pointless in its place!

  3. I was in Duxiana a few months ago and the sales person told me they would be closing. Said the landlord was taking over the space for his business.

  4. Will be glad to see Valley National Bank leave that space – I have nothing against them except that their graphics are so clumsy and generic and look especially awful in the context of that beautiful building.
