At long last. When Cafeteria was planning to open there (Reade and W. Broadway, where the homeless people live), residents vociferously opposed the liquor license.

3) 385 Greenwich Street, application for sidewalk café application for Aemal LLC – Resolution

The restaurant in the former Ivy’s Bistro, from Matt Abramcyk and Akiva Elstein. From last July’s Unofficial Minutes: “The acting committee chair said they obviously weren’t going to be considering tables on N. Moore, but you can bet money they are. Smith & Mills has a sidewalk café, after all, which the guys got by going around CB1 altogether. Also, note the service door onto N. Moore in the floor plan.”

4) 62 Thomas Street, application for restaurant liquor license for Elmwood Venture LLC d/b/a Buddha Bar – Discussion

It looks like Buddha Bar, having been opposed by neighbors and rejected by CB1 before, is trying again. UPDATE 7/3: This is actually a report from a CB1 member, not a discussion, but my understanding is that the headline remains accurate: Buddha Bar has not given up.

5) 251 Church Street, application to the SLA to include a sidewalk café for Two Hands Tribeca

Two Hands applied for the café permit a couple of months ago, now they need a revised liquor license to serve alcohol out on the Church Street Riviera.

Discussed here. UPDATE: But the more relevant post is now here.

7) 349-351 Greenwich Street, application for liquor license for SAAR NYC, Inc. – Resolution (tentative)

1) 22 Reade Street proposal – Presentation by Dan Hoeg, The Hoeg Corporation

22 Reade is one of the three buildings (along with 346 Broadway and 49-51 Chambers) that the city sold to private developers. The other two are mid-conversion; this is the first we’ve heard about 22 Reade, which is at the corner of Elk. I went to the Hoeg Corporation’s website to see if there happened to be anything about 22 REade. The Investing Insights page is, oddly, a random selection of personal photos.

1) TD Five Borough Bike Tour – Discussion with Sharon Pope, Community Outreach/Strategic Planning Manager, Bike New York

Those of us who had issues with the insanely loud pre-race noise should make sure CB1 is aware of how bad it is, because the rep is likely going to say it’s not bad at all and no one complained to her. Email man01@cb.nyc.gov.

2) Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment – Presentation and discussion with Andrew Brokman, Deputy Director of External Affairs

  1. Barleycorn already made its plans for the sidewalk known at the last meeting in June…the sidewalk cafe is meant for Park Place. There were a lot of supportive comments from Murray St residents who had shown up thinking the bar might be seeking longer hours, but generally complimented the owner for living up to his commitment to lock the Murray St entrance at 9:00pm. The board asked for him to come back with a few other details about his plan for Park Place, but also was supportive, although they said that they would also make it contingent on his agreeing to keep the Murray St entrance closed after 9:00, to which he agreed. All in all a decent outcome for all parties.

  2. I’m on it. I’ve reached out to someone who I think is involved. Will let you know as soon as I hear. At a minimum, I’ll find out at the meeting on Wednesday and report back then.

  3. Thanks, I have written my email about the 5 Boro Bike Tour. Of course, I did that in May too and never received a reply or acknowledgment.

Is the Quality of Life meeting open to the public? I have never gone to any of these meetings and do not know whether public commentary is permitted. Thank you.

  4. S, Yes the QoL meeting is open to the public and public comments are welcome.

  5. I live on Chambers between Church and Broadway and have nice, quiet city windows. However, once a year, I am jolted out of bed by the noise from the bike ride starting line. It seems to get louder every year. Having said that, it’s just once a year and I’ll take that over the 4-year construction project that happened just under my bedroom window. Meh, I can take a once-yearly 6:30 am party.
