Private Shopping for the Style Industry

Owner Bob Melet travels the world to bring back mens and womens vintage and antiques to be arranged into concepts per design season. These concepts use art and photography combined with clothing, accessories and textiles to create inspirational vignettes useful for design teams, stylists, art directors, editors and creative individuals. The showroom also houses a library of vintage books, records and ephemera growing by the day. Every 12 weeks the showroom completely transforms conceptually. Our showroom promotes a creative yet quiet environment where teams and individuals can be assured a private and confidential experience by appointment.

And more on Melet:

At age twenty one, I opened my first antique shop and art gallery. Five years later I went to work for Ralph Lauren as the head of vintage buying for the newly launched Double RL label. After 10 amazing years, I set out to create something new. Melet Mercantile was founded in 2003 on the notion that New York City needed a resource where designers, art directors, editors, stylists or anyone in search of something different and inspiring could discover the most rare and unique things in the world—simply by picking up the phone and heading downtown. Thirteen successful years later we have grown and evolved to include a seasonal outpost on Montauk, NY as well as a creative services studio and art gallery to support the diverse needs of our clients.

The new showroom, which used to be on the second floor of a Wooster Street building, seems to be by appointment only (but open to the public…?).
