Seen & Heard: Proposals for the South End Avenue Arcades

••• The Battery Park City Authority posted materials for the proposed changes to the South End Avenue arcades. Click here (PDF) or go to this page and scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on Concept Development Open House: Visuals. Here’s option three: “Fill Arcade with Added Retail & New Awning.”

From its website: “Arlo Hotels are for today’s informed urban explorer, providing an ideal homebase from which to see the city. Purposeful design reigns, valuing quality over quantity, and autonomous exploration over prescriptive hospitality.” Don’t you just hate prescriptive hospitality? The website says the hotel “launches” Sept. 6.

From the website: “A very early adopter of injectables and skin laser technologies, Lauren’s artful work has built her reputation as a peerless practitioner who helps her patients create meaningful internal and external changes in their lives.”

••• From Notify NYC: “The Liberty Cup Drone Race is scheduled to take place this weekend, July 30-31, at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. The activity is scheduled to take place from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, and will consist of multiple drones racing through various obstacles. The activity may be visible from parts of Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan.”

••• Now at Arcade Bakery: square slices. (At least I think it’s a recurring thing and not a one-off.)

When news of Jonathan Burden’s move came out, the word was that a fashion company was taking the space, but I don’t know if that meant office, showroom, and/or store.

  1. Any idea about the restaurant in the Tommie? Is that opening soon also?

    • Nope. I’ve never anything about it directly from a PR firm, only from other news sources, so I suspect we’ll read about it on Eater or the NYT when it’s close to ready. (Generally, if I know about any opening dates, you can be assured that I’ll have mentioned them.)

  2. Option 3 can kick rocks, as far as I’m concerned.
