In the News: “The Princess of Tribeca”

Gawker on Tribeca••• Real estate website are always releasing “reports” about the most expensive and/or desirable neighborhoods, and I don’t cover them because (a) there are so many, (b) they’re just PR bait, and (c) I have doubts about the methodology. But I thought Gawker writer Hamilton Nolan’s post about Tribeca being called the city’s “best neighborhood to live in” by something called Niche was notable for its inaccuracy (well, not about the wind).

••• On the non-occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Princess Diaries movie, Mental Floss compiled a list of infobits, including this: “In Megan Cabot’s book series The Princess Diaries, Mia and her mom live in Manhattan. This was the original plan for the movie, too, so it was called The Princess of Tribeca. But the location was changed to San Francisco further into production, which meant the name had to be tweaked as well.”

••• Racked is ending its New York City version, which is a shame because it often had shopping-related scoops.
