Seen & Heard: Silent Summer Dance Party

••• Today at Rockefeller Park: “Join us for our Silent Summer Dance Party with the help of Quiet Events. Put your headphones on and the sounds of the party pulse to life as you groove to your choice of live DJs or a set playlist. Food trucks on-site with festive fare. Headphones are free. Deposit is required.” It’s noon to 4 p.m.

••• Also today: the first Summer Streets street shutdown, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Map and info here. Next Saturday is the one where they’re making most of Lower Manhattan more or less car-free.

••• DIY peephole on Duane! Better hope that tape holds because I’ll be watching….

DIY peephole on Duane••• Nice new windows at 66 Reade! Rounded at the top, too. The north side of the Church/Broadway block is starting to shape up.

66 Reade••• From a Pret a Manger rep: “Pret opened its 45th shop in New York City today, and its first in Tribeca, at 125 Chambers at the corner of W. Broadway.” I’d say that the ones at Broadway/Thomas and Church/Park Place are also in Tribeca, if I weren’t afraid of igniting the boring old where-is-Tribeca argument. “The shop seats 82 people. The new shop created 30 new jobs and is open seven days a week (Mon-Fri 6 a.m.-10 p.m., Sat-Sun 8 a.m.-7 p.m.). And in our continued commitment to helping the hungry and homeless, all unsold food made each day will be donated to City Harvest every night.”
