Seen & Heard: Soho Pharmacy’s Identity Crisis

••• Thanks to I. for sending over a photo of the newsstand that has opened on Chambers, across from BMCC.

200-chambers-newsstand••• Lower Manhattan Community Church’s annual Pumpkin Patch event is this Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rockefeller Park. There will be free pumpkins, donuts, and cider.

••• I had assumed that Soho Pharmacy was changing its name to Tribeca Pharmacy, and that the signage would continue to be updated, but it appears to have stopped a third of the way through—and it notes two different addresses and two different phone numbers. Has anyone asked what’s going on? I’ll try to pop in but the staff there tends not to be very welcoming.

tribeca-pharmacy-soho-pharmacy••• I learned more about the Canal Park Conservancy, which had the CityParks Puppetmobile by for a puppet show last week. It’s been around for a while, says Ashley Kadakia, since the park was beautifully renovated in 2005. “The Conservancy is now looking to add members to help maintain and enhance the park. My friend Sandra Kostel and I want to make a new Friends of Canal Park board to help raise awareness and money so improvements can be made in line with the evolving family neighborhood. And we’re going to continue event programming with the help of the city Parks Department.” Anyone interested in getting involved can reach the Canal Park Conservancy here.

••• JJ says Les Halles is closed again. (A couple of weeks ago, Luis said that the restaurant had closed and then reopened.)

  1. That picture of the stand appears not to show any news. What it be called?

  2. re Soho pharmacy – maybe the owners think Tribeca starts at the south of Beach St, instead of Canal.

  3. Stopped by Les Halles Friday night. Maitre d’ said that there had been a floor collapse in the kitchen, so they are running limited hours for the next month while repairs are made.
