New Kid on the Block: Skin Laundry

skin-laundry-tribeca-exteriorYen Reis founded Skin Laundry in Santa Monica in 2013, when she couldn’t find the same level of skincare that she had experienced in Asia. The company’s fifteenth location opens tomorrow on W. Broadway; it’s the fourth outpost in New York City.

The treatment—there’s only one—is 15 minutes, and you book online. “We use two technologies: YAG laser and IPL,” says Isabel Vigil, Skin Laundry’s head of clinic operations in the U.S. “YAG vaporizes the dirt and oil on the skin, and goes into the dermis to stimulate collagen and break up melanin deposits. IPL uses infrared light for targeting darkness and redness, minimizing the appearance of pores and the bacteria causing acne.”

Skin Laundry recommends that clients come a minimum of once a week, and as with boutique fitness, the price goes down if you commit to multiple sessions. Each client’s first treatment is always free, and tomorrow (Thursday), treatments are complimentary even if you’ve already visited a Skin Laundry. Moreover, the product line is 20% off through the weekend. Come January, Skin Laundry products will also be available at Sephora stores.

Skin Laundry is at 112 W. Broadway (bet. Duane and Reade), 646-838-4404; skinlaundry.com.
