Seen & Heard: Best Friends Pet Adoption Center

••• The city installed one of its hulking wayfaring signs on Broadway, next to the pedestrian/bike path that cuts through City Hall Park. I’m always walking my dog in that area, and I can’t even estimate how many times I’ve been asked for directions to Federal Plaza, because that’s where the U.S. Customs & Immigration Services office is—and usually by people who could really benefit from signage that highlights the location (because their English isn’t great). But Federal Plaza and the USCIS aren’t on the map! (P.S. No one has ever asked about the “American Sentinels” and “Manhattan Sentinels” sculptures….)

••• Taryn Toomey’s new fitness studio on the third floor of 22 Park Place appears to open this Thursday.

••• Could someone have leased the ground-floor retail space at 428 Greenwich? The “for lease” sign is gone.

••• A Japanese restaurant is popping up at B Flat every month: “Maze-Maze Pop-up Bistro at B Flat Tribeca once more! Maze-Maze Pop-up bistro at B Flat went great on Jan. 8th. We appreciated all of your support! We are scheduling to open every month until spring at the best bar in NY B-Flat. Next  will be on Sunday, February 5th 2017 3-9pm. You can have the best cocktails and Maze Gohan together. Nothing better than this!” Maze-gohan is rice with various ingredients. You can find more info here.

••• The Best Friends Adoption Center on W. Broadway, just north of Everyman Espresso, put up signage. (It’ll be the beloved organization’s first adoption center in New York City.)

••• 42 Walker has been under renovation for a long time now, but I don’t think we’ve previously had a glimpse of its fresh, creamy façade.

A historic townhouse at 428 Greenwich St. in Tribeca above Michelin-starred sushi eatery Azabu is back on the market as a $20,000-a-month rental.

The five-story home, built in 1883, is 4,400 square feet with 500 square feet of exterior space.

The landmarked four-bedroom, 4½-bathroom property, which was recently gut-renovated, comes with a library, an enclosed terrace and a roof deck.

There’s also a new chef’s kitchen. Original details from cast-iron elements to exposed brick remain.

The listing brokers are Platinum Properties’ Jesse Klein and Constantinos Katehis.
