Seen & Heard: Groundhog Day Loft Tour

••• The Inside Tribeca Loft Tour didn’t happen this past fall, but you can still get a peek at some great apartments at the Friends of Duane Park’s Groundhog Day Progressive Cocktail Party on February 2. The details: “We’ll be enjoying three lofts near Duane Park, each with a different theme and cocktails and light fare. From 6 to 8 p.m., you’ll move from loft to loft—with surprises and prizes all befitting the groundhog theme—and at the end, we’ll come together for a Champagne toast. Tickets are $100 per person or $550 for a group of six, and all proceeds benefit the park. For tickets, visit duanepark.org and click the ‘donate’ button. We will send a confirmation and loft address to you by email. Only 120 tickets are available.” Also, from 6 to 8 p.m., more or less, an ice sculptor will be sculpting a groundhog at Duane Park (and that’s open to the public).

••• “Law & Order: SVU” is back yet again on Friday. Maybe Universal Television could make a donation to City Hall Park for the constant inconvenience.

••• And the TV show “Bull” evidently didn’t get what it needed earlier in the week, because it’s back in the Warren/W. Broadway area today and tomorrow.

••• On January 31, Élan Flowers is having an open house at its new location (26 Grand), with hot cider (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.), homemade cookies (1-5 p.m.), and wine and cheese (5-7:30 p.m.).

••• Eataly is near the end of a month-long sale to celebrate its 10th anniversary. There were some good deals throughout the store.

••• Are the blue lights at Hudson River Park new? I haven’t been there at night—or even driven by—in a while, so they might be old. Can’t say I’m a fan (of colored light in general, actually).

••• I’m still waiting for the windows to be installed at 187 Franklin, so the mesh can get removed, but in the meantime the white plastic in the windows makes the façade a bit easier to see. Click on the pic to see it larger (and I jacked up the contrast—it’s not that dark in real life).

  1. Isn’t all light colored? Some light is shitty, others are not. Not sure you can’t not be a fan of colored light. I believe all light is colored. If you want to discuss further, I will buy you lunch at Warren 77 any day between 12-3pm.
