Seen & Heard: Broadway Store Closings

••• Over the Rhine is playing City Winery on May 6. One of my favorite concerts ever was seeing the band at the Bottom Line right after its fantastic double record, Ohio, came out. The weather was bad—a blizzard?—so turnout was sparse. But the band played its heart out. Here’s “Suitcase.”

••• 321-323 Canal is looking rather spiffy.

••• B Dry Blow Dry Bar has shifted downmarket.

••• Empire Apparel at 384 Broadway put up “store closing” signs.

••• So did Shoegasm at 381-383 Broadway.

••• And there’s a big new “for lease” sign at 358 Broadway, currently the site of a clothing store.

••• D. noticed that the Battery Park City Authority appears to be replacing its old-fashioned garbage cans with a new model.
