  1. Regarding Holland Tunnel traffic: We had a productive closed door meeting today with members of CB2, PD, Hudson Square BID and City Council reps. DOT has begun a wide-ranging study of the whole tunnel area, but we are working to resolving more “low-hanging fruit” in the meantime with regard to quality of life improvements: honking, traffic, pollution.

I urge any concerned residents of Tribeca, Hudson Square and SoHo to come to the 1st Precinct Community Meeting tomorrow night, Thursday March 30 at 6:30 PM at 16 Ericsson Place to voice your complaints, concerns and solutions to PD and council members on hand.

    • Thanks so much for the update.

    • THANK YOU. I will try to make it Thursday although I don’t think I can. We live on Vestry and it’s honestly pretty terrible. I have called 311 many times to try to “do my part” and they seem to pretend it matters but obviously nothing is done.

  2. I can’t be there, but strongly urge anyone attending to raise the issue of cars using Hubert and Vestry to gain access to the Hudson St tunnel lanes thereby completely blocking the 2 local lanes for several light cycles and causing incessant honking. The traffic officer stationed at Laight and Hudson completely ignores these offenders and they are a major source of traffic delays and road rage on Hudson St

    • Completely agree this is the number one source of honking and perfect example of low-hanging fruit. I will try to attend to raise this.
