Seen & Heard: Tetsu Opening Forecast

••• “I had dinner at Kappo Masa last night and after a brief conversation with one of the waiters I was told Tetsu is currently scheduled to open June 20,” commented Alex. (Tetsu is the restaurant at 78 Leonard.)

••• The Flea’s new home on Thomas Street has come out from under the remaining plywood.

••• That’s not legal, but I’m sure the 1st Precinct will take care of it.

••• On a recent visit to Boise (which locals pronounce with a sibilant s, not a z), Adam and I played cornhole, “a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn (or bean bags) at a raised platform with a hole in the far end.” And then we saw it at a fancy hotel in California. I thought it was a Western thing until I came across it on Ann Street, at the W XYZ bar—that space is apparently intentional—inside the Aloft hotel.

••• From June 8 to 11, the New York City Open volleyball tournament will be on Pier 26. General admission is free, or you can pay for a premium experience.

••• The new building at 351-355 Broadway (a.k.a. 91 Leonard) is about halfway to its 20-story height.
