A Cool New Hotel Bar Is Opening Soon

The transition of the Cosmopolitan Hotel into the Frederick may not have seemed especially exciting, but that’s about to change: Its new bar, Primo’s, is shooting to debut in the next week or so. The pedigree is strong: Proprietor Aisa Shelley, who owns Mr. Fong’s and Oliver Coffee over in Two Bridges, has enlisted Assembly NYC for the staff’s uniforms and Camilla Deterre (responsible for Mimi in the Village) for the interiors. According to the background material, “Primo’s twin rooms are a deluge of terrazzo tile and glazed brick walls with plush velvet seating and a grand marble fireplace highlighted by a mural by Connie Vallesse.” With offerings that include “classic cocktails, coffee cocktails, snacks and small plates,” the bar is open from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., and reservations are available for parties of six and more. (In the floor plan above, which was presented to Community Board 1 as part of the liquor license application, the star indicates the location of Primo’s.)
