••• If the Giants win, the parade will be Tuesday, “running from Battery Park to roughly Chambers Street at the northern end of City Hall Park. [...] For those who do have windows that open, the [Downtown] Alliance has free confetti by the bale. [...] On Tuesday morning, if all goes according to plan, an Alliance truck will make its massive confetti run at the crack of dawn, delivering huge bundles of paper before the roads are closed.”

••• “Louis F. Latilla, 65, and his wife, Terrie Latilla, 59 [who] live in Tribeca and own the Manhattan Fruit Exchange at Chelsea Market,” told the New York Times about dining at the West Village restaurant RedFarm. No offense to the Latillas, but it’s a pretty dumb column—although not as dumb as the NYT article about how the Giants have fairy dust on their side.

••• “Battery Park City’s Liberty Luxe Penthouse Wants $29,500/Month,” laughs Curbed.

A few Seen & Heard items that don’t quite warrant their own post:

••• “Coming soon” signage has been put up at the new Kaffe 1668 (on Greenwich bet Beach and Hubert).

••• I hear Super Linda isn’t opening until at least Wednesday.

••• I had to spend most of Saturday night in the emergency room—not because of me (I would never get sick at such an inconvenient time)—and it was my first experience of any kind with the New York Downtown Hospital. I’ve never gotten the impression that anyone there reads this site, but if they do, thanks again for being extremely considerate.

••• “The Brooklyn district attorney indicted eight New Yorkers yesterday for fraudulently receiving Medicaid benefits and food stamps, even as they raked in thousands of dollars and owned properties. [...] One of the defendants, Mohammed Irshad Chaudhry, 58, allegedly collected more than $146,000 in Medicaid benefits between January 2004 and November 2011. Prosecutors say he lied on his Medicaid applications, saying he earned about $300 a week while working at Super Punjab Auto Repair shop in Long Island City. He also claimed he was a ‘helper’ at a Tribeca tea shop. However, in reality Chaudhry owns both those businesses, prosecutors said, and makes $8,000 each month from them.” —Metro

••• Inspired by yesterday’s post about the new building planned for Varick and N.
••• Super Linda will open Monday, for real this time. —Eater

••• “To coincide with the re-exhibition of [James] Rosenquist’s [86-foot-long artwork "F-111" at MoMA], often considered a cornerstone of the Pop-art movement, Vanity Fair visited the artist at his Tribeca home [...]. Arriving at the Rosenquist town house (white façade, turquoise trim), one immediately notices a sign over the six buzzers at the front door: RING ANY BELL. ‘Isn’t that fun?’ the artist will later say. ‘I own the whole building!’”

••• “Battery Park City’s Irish Hunger Memorial is badly leaking. Just 10 years after it was built, the quarter-acre plot covered in rocks, grass and bushes from Ireland will get a major overhaul.” —Tribeca Trib

••• “It’s 1952 on the N.Y Central Railroad for Gerry Weinstein and two friends who are carefully building a section of the Hudson line in a Tribeca Loft.” Keeps ‘em off drugs, presumably. —Tribeca Trib

••• “Built in 1997 against the fervent objections of neighbors in the adjoining building, the penthouse at 155 Franklin St. was something of a rarity, a 2,200-square-foot “rooftop mezzanine” [...]. The structure has a new and dubious distinction: it is falling apart. An entirely rebuilt and redesigned structure is up for city approval.” —Tribeca Trib

The guy who answered the phone said IA will reopen in two weeks.

••• <del>This Wednesday, Hugh Jackman will attend the official opening of the Battery Place Market on Goldman Alley (time TBD)—it’s because Laughing Man coffee is being sold there. UPDATE: It looks like this is up in the air, so don’t go picking out an outfit just yet.</del> UPDATE #2: The press release that Battery Place Market put out this morning was evidently a total fabrication; Jackman won’t even be in the country on Wednesday. I remember when a press release used to mean something….

••• Potbelly‘s new sign says it’s “coming soonish” (er, thanks) to Broadway between Reade and Chambers. It also mentions live local music, which is evidently part of its brand.

••• J. Crew’s Ludlow Shop will open at Hudson and Thomas on Feb. 29. Also: 2012 is a leap year.

••• “Butter and egg loft at 176 Duane Street sells at $1,889/ft.” Of course, Manhattan Loft Guy has a lot more to say about it than that.

••• “The South Street Seaport bar where television host Greg Kelly wooed the woman who accused him of rape is hardly the place for a romantic rendezvous. Jeremy’s Ale House, a fixture on the East Side waterfront, is a place where cops, construction workers and Wall Street wizards wander in off the cobblestone streets to knock back some brews. The Front St. tavern—where sources told the Daily News Kelly and his accuser hung out before heading to her lower Manhattan law office on Oct. 8—offers 21 beers on tap and blares classic rock. It’s a hard-drinking crowd: Beers are served in 32-ounce styrofoam cups, and the empties are stacked on the tables.” There’s an unpleasant whiff of insinuation in this article. —New York Daily News

I can’t quite justify making it into a Loft Peeping post because most of the photos are of her art—the painting of a dog mid-poop is a keeper—and the ones that aren’t are rather bare.

••• “Power couple Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber’s extensive downtown home hunt has ended with the purchase of a full-floor loft on Washington Street in Tribeca. The acting duo have closed on the 4,315-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom co-op for $3.95 million. The dramatic loft, which has 14-foot ceilings, oversized windows, river views and keyed elevator access, was listed for $4.5 million.” —New York Post

••• “When the South Street Seaport Museum reopens on Thursday, after nearly a year of being closed, its new leaders will have tried to address some of the problems that had left it in peril. Visitors will find two floors of expanded gallery space, cleaned, updated and re-envisioned by a new team of experts. Perhaps more important, the museum has an interim plan to pay bills as it works to attract more visitors.” —New York Times

••• J.C. Chandor, the director and Oscar-nominated writer of Margin Call, got the idea for the film when “he was working as a real estate broker and developer in Manhattan. While renovating a building in Tribeca, he received an early tip from a financial insider that he should sell it, before the market crashed in 2008. ‘I started to think back on what was it like for that guy to be the first person’ with knowledge of the coming crisis, Mr. Chandor said. ‘Do you intervene?
••• Super Linda opens Monday, according to a New York Times profile of restaurateur Matt Abramcyk. A few thoughts about the piece: 1) I was quoted in it, so obviously that’s fun. Had I known there was an opening party last week that I wasn’t invited to, I might’ve been less nice. 2) That’s a lot of horses in the photo. 3) if Abramcyk can’t stand kitchen glare, he might want to sit against the southern wall in the back room of Tiny’s (and I say that with affection for the place). 4) The chef at Super Linda is John Martinez, who’s also in charge at Tiny’s. UPDATE: The pastry chef, who I only know as @verysmallanna on Twitter, will be at Super Linda as well! UPDATE #2: She tells me that Super Linda isn’t opening Monday after all.

••• Tribeca Tavern makes the top 10 of Porcelain Press, a blog about the bathrooms of New York: “You descend a staircase with a green railing, and suddenly you discover that you’re in the 14th Street / Union Square subway station, complete with dirty white tile walls. Ha. The women’s room was a mess—in addition to not having toilet paper, there were wet paper towels on the sink (but no dry ones to substitute for TP), and the black-and-white tilework was uneven and not arranged in any discernable pattern. But the subway station gimmick, combined with a vintage photo of Muhammad Ali in a boxing ring, won me over.” PP (pun intended!) should really check out Smith & Mills.

"I got an amazing desk off of Craigslist from someone who lives on Warren," says the founder of MaVaVoom, a new website for moms and moms-to-be. "It was $50 but looks like it cost a pretty penny!"

1. How long have you lived in the area? Where did you move from? Where are you originally from? I grew up in Yardley, Pa. (a suburb of Philly), went to Indiana University–Bloomington, and then moved to New York City. I have lived all over the city but Tribeca is my favorite. I have been living on Duane Street for four years.

2. Married? Partnered? If so, what’s his/her name and occupation? I have an amazing boyfriend named Spencer Julien. He is the New York Knicks Producer for MSG.

3. Kids? Pets? No kids yet and no pets. I had the urge to get a dog so I went to Biscuits and Bath. They let me bring home a sick puppy for two weeks so I could nurse it back to health. I was sad to give the pup back but came to the realization that the dog would grow to be 70 pounds and it would take up my entire apartment. The experience satisfied my yearning for a dog. I am going to wait until I someday leave the city to get one.

4. Where do you live? Duane Street between Church and Broadway.

5. What do you do for a living? I just launched MaVaVoom, a site for moms and moms-to-be, and over the next few months you will find tons of new and exciting features! Currently there are unique articles focusing on all things that women, especially moms, will find informative and fun. There are hundreds of free coupons for top brands and stores, free recipes, and great deals. Within the next week, there will be an entire social networking platform where moms can meet, talk, share, blog, and connect with other other moms. I am very excited!

6. The best deal around: I am not even kidding, I go to Lot-Less on Duane Street almost everyday. They have the most random and wonderful stuff at the lowest prices ever! I love that store.

7. Most-frequented restaurants: Max or Edward’s.

8. For special occasions, I go to: Megu, Landmarc, or Ecco! I really love Ecco! because it has that old New York feeling.

9. Best sandwich: Turkey and extra pickles on a whole-wheat wrap from the Amish Market.

10. Sweet-tooth satisfaction: Baskin-Robbins on Chambers or Broadway.

11. Most delicious cocktail: Saketinis from Megu but I usually just go for Patrón and club soda with lime or wine. So I can get that anywhere.

12. I usually order in from , and I always order the . Gee Whiz Diner gives you so many extra condiments, which makes me super happy. Blockheads‘ chicken taco salad is a fave of mine. I am all about seamless.com. Probably one of the greatest sites ever. It makes ordering food a snap!

13. I can’t resist popping into: The Balloon Saloon (left) on Duane and W. Broadway. They have tons of fun stuff!

14. The last non-essential item I bought: Does a venti soy chai tea latte from Starbucks count? Or perhaps buckwheat pillows that weigh 30 pounds and I don’t use.

15. When I walk into my apartment, the first thing I see that I bought in Tribeca is: I got an amazing desk off of Craigslist from someone who lives on Warren. It was $50 but looks like it cost a pretty penny!

16. I’m so glad almost every train is in the neighborhood, because without it I’d have a hard time getting around.

17. How I stay fit: I have been spending so much time on my site but I really need to get back to working out. I was addicted to Soul Cycle for a while…. I really do love it. I am a certified spinning instructor.

18. Where I get beautiful: Lotus Salon.

19. What’s the area’s best-kept secret? I feel like many people are impressed by Brandy Library (is that a secret?)…. Hmm….

20. A recent enthusiasm: Twitter.

21. A worthy splurge: A parking garage close to my apartment for my car.

23. Rainy-day activity: The movies in Battery Park City.

26. I’ve never been to the 9/11 memorial and I don’t know why.

27. I’m sorry, The Harrison, but I won’t be coming back. During the summer I was dressed in shorts and flip-flops after a day of walking around. The hostess stared me up and down, so I left.

29. I tend to take out-of-towners to: If it is cold, any of the restaurants on Duane and W. Broadway. During the summer, I just bring them to Greenwich and let them pick a place to eat outside.

30. I wish I lived in…. A huge loft in Tribeca on one of the cobblestone streets. I will take any of them.

31. My very favorite spot: I love piano bars. If it has live music, you can find me there.

32. Pet peeve: When people make a high pitched buzzing noise with their lips. It is hard to describe, but I hate it!

33. If money were no object, I’d build and invest in more Internet companies.

35. My most memorable celebrity sighting: I think I saw Mariah Carey walking back from the gym after she gave birth. She was a mess. I have taken SoulCycle classes with Chelsea Clinton and Kelly Ripa.

36: A Tribeca celebrity I’d like to run into: Hands down, Jay-Z and Beyoncé. I would also like to interview Bethenny Frankel for my site.

37. The most romantic spot around: A stroll along the Hudson.

38. Tribeca could use more grocery stores (in the west and north) and less/fewer (I don’t know what we need less of).

39. If I could change one thing about the neighborhood: Clean up Broadway.

40: A business I’d like to have here: Scoop, Intermix, or another women’s clothing store with cute clothes and multiple brands.

44. Proof that change is good: I just like seeing new stores pop up. I am always surprised when I find a new store in Tribeca.

45. If I couldn’t live here, I’d live in…. Doesn’t everyone want to live in Tribeca?! If I didn’t live here, I would probably like to live in Soho or the burbs.
