If you’ve never had a Payard croissant (at the Houston Street outpost, say, or La Colombe), you know how good they are. The new François Payard Bakery in the Goldman Sachs arcade, across from Shake Shack, is a patisserie in the Parisian style, serving not just pastries—including macarons—but premade sandwiches, quiches, and salads. Everything is premade, actually, as the tiny café has no kitchen; the food comes from Houston Street. (There are two deliveries a day, early in the morning for breakfast goods and mid-morning for lunch.) There are a handful of tables inside.
