With its history as a horse stable, impeccably curated salvage vibe, and vaulted ceiling, Smith & Mills is a leading contender for the prettiest room in Tribeca, though nook might be a better word—it’s tiny, with just a half-dozen tables and a bar. (Needless to say, it fills up quickly, and reservations are not accepted.) The menu is eccentric—New European might be more apt than New American, with steamed mussels bumping up against tomato bruschetta and Hungarian meatballs—and inexpensive, though people seem to go to S&M more to drink than eat. Note: The bathroom, with an old train sink that you lift to empty, is oddly romantic in its own right.
Dude it isn’t a carraige house. It’s a single car garage. It’s in raw warehouse. Those arent barrel ceilings. Those are cardboard inserts. It’s a 199 square foot single car garage.
We were looking around for a burger, and randomly stopped in front of S&M. It is the cutest place in the world. Very good crowd, european vibe, excellent service, fun to look at the chef preparing your meal directly behind the bar. If you get the little round table outside, you’ll get the vibe of the place, plus views of the sunset. And the burger is…. gorgeous! I highly recommend it!
Ah well it should be. Smith and Mills is a copy of the 8 house above them. They copied a famous architect’s work. The CO isn’t valid for Smith and Mills. It’s 199 square feet with the legal capacity for 10. The space isn’t vented. What award man? These guys are the losers from Beatrice Inn. I ‘m pretty sure the neighbors drove them out of the West Village. What is the matter with you people? Most people wouldnt admit they know this dude. Paul and Andre who owned Beatrice Inn were the draw at Beatrice Inn. Clearly you were never there. This is the who got them shut down at Bea!
