Owner/confectioner Rachel Thebault—who is usually visible in the open kitchen—ditched her investment-banking career to focus on baking, and her love for it shows in her perfect little cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and chocolates. “Little” isn’t a pejorative: Thebault’s philosophy is that it’s easier to avoid overindulging when portions are reasonable. (The ice-cream sandwiches are full-size.) There’s a long-ish table with chairs for those who want to dig right in. The shop also sells cards and other gifty stuff, including Thebault’s cookbook, Sweet Chic. The made-to-order cakes are excellent.
