••• The committee for the P.S. 234 Spring Auction wants you: Can you donate something to be auctioned off? (Sure you can! Suggestions are here.) Or give your time: There are many ways to volunteer, before the auction and/or the day of—which, I should mention, is March 20, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
••• Tribeca Film Festival is also looking for volunteers: “By volunteering at the Tribeca Film Festival, you will have the chance to meet fellow film lovers, get free giveaways from our sponsors, and gain access to films for free! In addition, you will also receive an invitation to the exclusive TFF Volunteer Wrap Party. All volunteers are required to participate in a minimum of 3 shifts (from 3-8 hours each), and attend 2 mandatory orientation sessions. We also have several internship positions available in the weeks leading up to the main event.” The 2010 festival is April 21–May 2.

••• “‘Contemporary Korean Design,’ a show of more than 30 pieces of tableware and home furnishings by five Korean designers and ceramicists, opens March 1 at the R 20th Century gallery in Tribeca. ‘These are people who have taken tradition and pushed it forward,’ said Zesty Meyers, an owner of the gallery, which is collaborating with Gallery Seomi in Seoul on the exhibition. The artists include Byung-Hoon Choi, who hand-carves and sands stacked laminated red oak to make soft, curvaceous side tables ($50,000 for the pair),” which are pictured above. (New York Times)
