Seen & Heard: Liquor Store Appears Doomed

••• You might be wondering, as have I, what’s on the ground floor of 11 N. Moore, since we know it’s not retail. According to the Schedule A filed on the Department of Buildings website, it’s:

—WATER GAS METER ROOMS, FIRE PUMP ROOM, ELECT. ROOM, REFUSE ROOM, STORAGE ROOM, BICYCLE STORAGE ROOM FOR 12 BICYCLES.
—LOBBY, PACKAGE ROOM, ACCESSORY PARKING FOR 3 CARS, OUTDOOR RECREATION
—INDOOR RECREATION ROOM A
—INDOOR RECREATION ROOM B

••• Haus Alkire, the fashion line with a boutique at 45 White, is having a sale of pieces from its archive.

Haus Alkire archive sale••• Is there anywhere around here to get fresh-squeezed orange juice? The machine at Whole Foods has disappeared and my husband offered to host a bagel brunch for my in-laws this weekend.

••• The owner of the Downtown Liquor Store told me in September that the “for rent” banner hanging outside was actually for the Douglas Elliman offices, which are moving to 140 Franklin (at Varick), and that he had more two years on the lease. But a reader sent in marketing materials for that storefront (combined with the Elliman offices) with “possession Q1 2016.”

90 Hudson••• And that same reader sent in materials for the storefront at the southeast corner of W. Broadway and Worth, where the city had been said to be opening a pre-K facility. That appears to be off.

  1. Sun in Bloom has fresh squeezed orange juice in bottles.

  2. The Gee Whiz serves freshly squeezed OJ, you may try them, although, as I don’t drink it, I couldn’t offer an opinion.

  3. Big bottles in/around TriBeCa:

Gourmet Garage on Broome Street off West Broadway and the new one at Leonard Street and Broadway

    Maybe Amish Market???

By the glass in TriBeCa off the top of my head:

Zucker’s Bagels, Gee Whiz Diner, Square Diner

Kaffe 1668 sells FSOJ as “Just Orange” and is a literal juiceorium possibly better than the late Jamba Juice.

  4. I no longer live in Tribeca (now in SF), but browse TC from time to time when it shows up in my news feed. I feel compelled to put in a good word for the fresh squeezed OJ at Morgans Market on Hudson and Reade, it served me well for many a brunch. Great stuff, and just the right level of sweet.
And I’ll never forget that Morgans was one of the only places that stayed open during Sandy, even when we were all without power…super important to support these small local neighborhood shops.

  5. I just walked through Whole Foods and they have a juice bar in the back by where the coffee is.

  6. MORGANS MARKET has AMAZING orange Juice, please resort to local businesses!

  7. It is outside, packed in ice, and always taste fresh

  8. I have a Mighty OJ squeezer that you may borrow. Freshest available and a workout too!

  9. after I read the problems the world is going through, I come here for a reality check….genuine life problems, like where to find freshly squeezed orange juice
