Seen & Heard: Dead Rabbit Reopening Date

••• To summarize: The TV show “Ray Donovan,” which shoots at the Trinity Boxing Club on Duane, is going to be taking over many streets in Tribeca on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this coming week. (Signs for various dates are all over; these three were at Duane and W. Broadway.) This is absolutely ridiculous. Neighboring businesses and residents get nothing but hassle in exchange for what?

••• The Dead Rabbit, still recovering from the recent fire, will reopen on July 19: “We won’t have a full kitchen for a while, but we’ve put together a killer all-day cold plate menu to keep you going in the meantime.”

••• Dig Inn put up signage for its restaurant at Greenwich and Laight. (I wonder whether the Landmarks Preservation Commission has to approve the sign on the corner….) It should open any day now.

••• Serafina‘s application for sidewalk seating was added to the agenda for the Community Board 1 Licensing Committee this Wednesday (or at least it’s in the agenda emailed out yesterday, even if it’s not online yet).

••• There was working going on inside 431 Washington, most recently home of Featherstone Design. You may know it as the building with a peacock painted on the gate (seen below in happier days). Anyone know what’s up?

    The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment / Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting released a new “Hot Spot” List recently.
    Hot Spots are locations put on hiatus from filming by the City after recent overuse. The downtown and Tribeca Hot Spots should be expanded after all the permits issued so far in 2018. (Maybe our esteemed Councilperson Chin could be even help with this problem!)

    I note that one of those Hot Spots starting in June is right at the photo you posted if permits starting in July; that shows how (un)seriously the City takes this issue of not letting filming disturb residents.

    Maybe Julie Menin, former Chair of CB 1, now the head of Mayor’s office in charge can be contacted directly. She used to care deeply about the neighborhood, but perhaps that has changed.

      Nah, Julie Menin is more concerned with staying on the good side of Hollywood than actually wanting to make a lasting difference in the lives within the neighborhood. Nothing ever changes because no one ever has the integrity to not give a shit about not giving a shit.
