Seen & Heard: BMCC pool opens after 6 years

WATER’S FINE
The BMCC pool has reopened after nearly six years (what has the college’s swim teams been doing all those years?). The public can join the pool for $225 for the semester – starting now till May 22. See details here.
The college made some aesthetic and technical upgrades, including a “state of the art Neptune-Benson Defender automatic filtration system that ensures cleaner water for swimmers without heavy chemical use and also lessens the facility’s impact on the environment.”

THE ART OF THE BOOK
The Children’s Museum of the Arts is all about books this spring, with A Way With Words: The Power and Art of the Book, an exhibition of art made with books and words, up until April 29, and an immersive installation by Paris-based artist Rachel Marks where families are “invited to see and hear the story of the unnatural forest.” See a video of her work here.

NYPD’S BUILD A BLOCK
The 1st Precinct is holding a Build the Block meeting with Neighborhood Coordination Officers Bernabe and Ford of Sector Adam Jan. 23 at 66 Frankfort St. Doors open at 5:30p for refreshments and the meeting begins at 6p. Follow them on Twitter!

SNOW BUSINESS
Washington Market Park’s own Steve Beccino spotted driving the Bobcat with the giant brush on the front to clear yesterday’s flurries in City Hall Park:

  1. Betcha the deep pool won’t be open, because you know, insurance. What about senior and other discounts?

  2. Lookin’ good, Steve!

  3. There is a senior swim program for a discounted rate of $155 for the semester

  4. The BMCC pool, including the deep end part, has been opened for while now (since the late fall 2018, I think).

    • That’s what I thought! But I got a press release from BMCC saying it was open and including all that detail — so I thought maybe it was delayed again??
