Former Bouley Botanical scheduled as upscale American

The manager of Pasquale Jones and a restauranteur from L.A. will open a (yet unnamed) (upscale) eatery focused on American cuisine in the former Bouley Botanical space on the southeast corner of White and Church. The West Coast restaurants are Norah in West Hollywood and Margot in Culver City. I’m going with Maude or Lilian for Tribeca. Suggestions welcome.

CB1 licensing committee folks approved the liquor license, but with a more restrictive plan than their standard rules for an avenue-facing venue. The request was 1a on weekdays; 2a on weekends. They got 12a/1a instead for the first six months, after which they can come back and see how things are going. This was largely in response to the coop board’s president, who in one of the more rational approaches seen at a community board meeting, noted that the building had suffered from acoustic problems with the previous two tenants. “I’m just trying to get in front of the sound issue,” he said, and the owners seemed amenable.

They are hoping to open in six to nine months.
