CHARGES FILED IN PRESSURE COOKER INCIDENT
A homeless man was arrested for allegedly placing pressure cookers in the Fulton Street station, and on 16th Street and 7th Avenue. The 26-year-old man, Larry Kenton Griffin II, has a criminal history, and faces three 2nd degree counts for placing a false bomb, says the Trib.

CONSTRUCTION ALMOST FINISHED ON TORY BURCH FLAGSHIP STORE
There is no word yet on when the store will open, but the building itself–situated at 151 Mercer Street between West Houston and Prince Street–is nearly completed. The design, which was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, allows the building to feel modern while also fit in with the existing neighborhood, according to the New York YIMBY.

A RICE PADDY GROWS AT THE OCULUS
The Times has a story about the rice paddy at the Oculus. It was installed by Danielle Chang–a Taiwanese-American. “Ms. Chang partnered with the Port Authority to plant the rice, which will continue to grow through Sept. 26, when it will be harvested for a feast atop 3 World Trade Center,” says The Times. Chang also has a lifestyle brand, LuckyRice, and a nonprofit, Lucky Chow.

NATHAN BERMAN IN CONTRACT TO BUY AIG BUILDING
Nathan Berman’s group Metro Loft Management is hoping to complete the purchase of the 175 Water Street property. Long known for his ability to turn commercial spaces into apartments, “Berman plans to convert the top half of the 684,000-square-foot building into residential once AIG’s lease expires in 2021,” says The Real Deal. AIG is moving to Midtown.

  1. Finally! That Tory Burch store was supposed to open on Black Friday after Thanksgiving 2014!

However, given the performance of retail in general, it’s unclear whether TB ever opens this space as TB retail, or just as their offices, or if they instead rent it out to someone else.

  2. Are we kidding with the earth shattering news of the Tory Burch store opening? I know we all want store fronts to be filled but I dunno…who cares about the TB store opening.
