Happy Thanksgiving to all, and thanks to all who make this a great place to live

When I had the great pleasure to interview Saori Kawano of Korin, she kept bringing the conversation back to the neighborhood, and how it had hosted and nurtured her business for four decades. Reflecting on those 40 years, she noted many times how thankful she was to have made it this far, and how grateful she was for the people who had helped her along the way. And now she hopes to start saying thank you to a neighborhood that in some ways made it all possible.

I made the list of volunteer neighborhood organizations included below at her request, and the process made me realize how rich we are — and I know what you are thinking but hold on a sec — in organizations and people who spend their free time helping make this a great place to live. It speaks to our privilege, sure, but hopefully it speaks to our collective spirit of generosity outside our borders as well.

Of course my thanks to you readers — you are after all what makes this whole thing go ’round — and to my sponsors and advertisers, who have allowed the Tribeca Citizen to stay viable. And a toast to the neighborhood itself and its classic urban beauty, captured in these amazing photos from Max Guliani.

Happy Thanksgiving.
