Sneak Peek 2: Argo Tribeca

A. wrote to say that she went to the pre-opening of Argo (181 Duane) this past weekend, thanks to friends who live upstairs, and already thinks it will be a great addition to the neighborhood. (And H. had been keeping an eye on them — this was the soft open and this week they are ready.) Here’s my original post on the owners. More soon when I go in, but in the meantime from A.:

“The space has some reminiscence of the old Max, with the elevated area in the back and the location of the bar, but otherwise, the washed wood, bright lights and generally clean look lend it a totally different feel. The food was delicious and totally reasonable. They don’t have a liquor license yet so encouraged BYO. We ended up paying $85 per couple and being completely stuffed with leftovers to take home.”

She said the highlights were two of the salads: the Greek watermelon and feta (in the Instagram post below) and the burrata and fruit (in A.’s shot above). “The beet gnocchi were not too ‘beety’ and very fresh from the addition of lemon zest (tried to get a photo but it looked like Lady Gaga’s meat dress – maybe not in a great way). The cauliflower steak was a yummy veggie option (below). Our friends got the squid ink risotto and moussaka and loved the dishes.”

I’ll give them a little time to get settled before they are a “New Kid”. For now they are open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 to 11p.

  1. Looking forward to trying, don’t see a website or phone number?
    Any information on that?

  2. We tried Argo a few weeks ago…Delicious food, wonderful staff and thankfully there is a wine store right up the street on Hudson! While we wait for you to get your liquor license.🙏🏻
Best of luck Argo…we will definitely be back!

  3. Enjoyed a lovely night out last week. Great food; contemporary Greek/Mediterranean & good service. Still waiting on liquor license. Nice to support our new local eateries. Hope it does well!
