Beekman Street Palace

The lucky SOB film location scout who also writes the Scouting New York blog got a peek inside 5 Beekman Street: “It’s completely empty, essentially abandoned, and has been for a decade, with much of the interior shuttered since 1940… Until now. A few days ago, pictures of the interior arrived in my inbox, with the invitation to come by and take a look for scouting purposes. After glancing at the pictures, I immediately made an appointment to photograph it myself the following day. I really couldn’t believe what I was seeing.” He/she has many, many more photos—it’s absolutely worth a look. And it’s said to be turning into a hotel….

  1. OMG ! Wha stunning features in this building and right across City Hall Park from my building!

Have walked past it and looked up but never imagined what was inside.

What a fantastic addition to the neighborhood this will be – hope it gets restored sooner rather than later.

Thank you Erik for finding these gems and sharing with us.

  2. Wow, wow, wow. Can you feel/hear the jealousy that this email is filled with? It would be beyond cool to go in there and check it out…
