Christmas-Shopping Crunch Time

The other day, a friend announced that he had done all of his holiday shopping online. “That’s nice,” I said. “Do you like the stores in your neighborhood? Maybe you should try patronizing them.” (I’m a tough-love kind of friend.) The truth about Tribeca’s stores, however, is that charity isn’t the best reason to shop at them—one of the coolest things about our neighborhood is that we haven’t been overtaken by chains (yet). So as you enter the final stretch of gift-buying season, I encourage you to visit the businesses listed below. Having stopped by each and every one over the past few weeks, I can say with authority—and a bit of pride—that there’s something here for everyone with a Platinum card.

P.S. Tell ’em Tribeca Citizen sent you!

TRIBECA CITIZEN T-SHIRTS
• You knew it was coming. There are two styles—including ones that say “Jay-Z is my neighbor”—and many colors, starting at $25, or $15 for kids’ shirts. It may be too late to get one in time for Christmas, but so what? Good things come to those who wait.

  1. You should make a public Google map of TribecaCitzen’s picks. Very easy to do…and very helpful for future shoppers!

    Here’s how: http://maps.google.com/support/bin/static.py?hl=en&page=guide.cs&guide=21670&topic=21676

  2. I’m exhausted by even thinking about saying the words “gift guide,” but I do like the idea of an annotated Google map…. Thanks for the link–I’ll definitely use it for something…..
