Seen & Heard: Yorganic Open

••• “Today, we will finally open our doors in Tribeca!” Yorganic (above) tweeted today. (It’s on Greenwich between Warren and Murray.) This is more of a soft opening.

••• Terroir Tribeca is now starting its happy hour at 3 p.m. (Wed.–Sun.)

••• Via KGB Deals: Pay $20 for $40 worth of food and drink at Sea-Horse in the Seaport.

••• Via Doodle Deals: $59 for 1-Month Membership to Gymboree, Including 4 Weekly Classes and Unlimited Open Gym Sessions (a $229 Value).

••• The word from Bouley is that Boji will most likely open to the public in mid-March (and sooner for private events).

••• While at Pasanella & Son this weekend, I learned that the wine shop is a “neighborhood drop point” for Basis Foods, which is like a CSA except you get to choose what you receive and the produce might not be local. You can have your goods delivered to your home or you can pick them up somewhere, such as at Pasanella. Basis appears not to be all that new except to me, but it looks worth checking out. If anyone already uses it, please let me know if it’s worthwhile.

  1. I find the basis foods thing weird because they 1) say all their produce is traceable – which isn’t the produce at Whole Foods traceable as well? 2) I thought it was all about local food and helping small local farms- I noted that they were carrying produce from Capay Organic from Capay, CA – isn’t this JUST like a regular supermarket shipping produce in from out of state?
Anyway there is a CSA that does home deliveries in Manhattan – http://www.myfarmshare.com/….while you can’t pick your own veggies – that is the beauty of a CSA share – you get introduced to new veggies and try new things!
