Seen & Heard: BLT Season

••• Wichcraft‘s BLT—my favorite sandwich in the neighborhood—is back as of tomorrow! The chain, as you may already know, will only make them when tomatoes are in season. (Two weeks ago I asked if it was coming soon, and the worker told me it’d be in the fall because “tomatoes are an autumn vegetable.” Retraining time!)

••• Sarabeth’s Tribeca update: “We are waiting for a NYC DOB inspection, currently scheduled for 8/12, but are trying to get this date moved up to next week. We should be open approximately 2 to 3 weeks after passing this inspection, hopefully before the end of August.” The renovation has evidently not been easy.

••• From BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center: “Please join us for our monthly get-together celebrating Tribeca, its businesses the neighborhood and its friends. Everyone is welcome at the offices of NearSay.com on Thursday, August 4, any time between 6:30 and 9 PM. This is a free event—anyone with an interest in Lower Manhattan is welcome to attend. The food and drinks are free as well.”

••• The 1st Precinct will celebrate National Night Out in BPC (at the volleyball courts at Liberty St.) on Aug. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: “Ask us questions, get to know us, educate us about your neighborhood problems. You will enjoy rides, music, hot dogs, cotton candy; police equipment and vehicles will be on display.”

••• Under new management, Do Yoga Do Pilates will no longer be a donation-based studio. Sessions are $12 with free mat rental.

  1. I’ve been waiting for Sara Beths to open for a full year! Glad that there is some movement going on.

  2. I ordered a wichcraft BLT today, but when I opened it up, I saw they forgot the “B”! The tomatoes were great, but for a $10 sandwich, it’s kind of disappointing to forget one of 3 components. Oh well, if they end up crediting me, I’d be happy to try it again.
